A classic Kiwi campground in the peaceful Okuti Valley, 45mins from Christchurch. Camping like it use to be. Rustic cabins, powered and tent sites for camper vans, caravans and secluded tent sites. Eco, dry composting toilets, with 3 hot showers ($2 for 4mins). Free Wifi hotspot (conditions apply- no games or downloads). Sunny or shady sites and on arrival choose the most suitable available. Over busy times sites can be very snug. Patience is asked for over busy periods, as our facilities are limited. The experience is more about the native habitat than the luxuries of some holiday park chain. They don't usually have scary slippery slides, giant swings or rivers and native bush reserve! The camp is perfect for kids to get back to nature, play on the in-ground trampoline or have a kick around. Parking is in the carpark, or on the road at very busy times to keep the camp area safer for kids and to make the camp area more pleasant. Our covered kitchen area for campers has a fridge/freezer, toaster, jug, gas hobs and microwave. 3 sinks with hot and cold water for dishes. Fees from $15/adult, $10 kids under 14- and from $75 for a cabin. Ideal for a group and can be cheaper than a dorm room at a backpackers. Unique 7.5h park like, riverside setting with native forest walks and picturesque views. Ideal for 'off the beaten track' explorers wanting to find the real NZ. Powered Site

We have 8 powered sites suitable for camper vans and caravans. If your caravan or van is over 7m, there may be an extra charge of $5/adult if you are only two or 3 people ($30/adult and $15 for kids). The larger the caravan or van the less options on sites. Some sites are in sheltered areas, with bush surrounds close to a river, so you can hear the babble of the stream and wake to birdsong. There is an sheltered outdoor kitchen area with sinks, toaster, microwave, fridge, gas hobs, BBQ and seating. Back to basics. Sunny or shady sites and on arrival choice the most suitable and available. Over busy times sites can be very snug, so let us know if your planning on putting up an awning. Non essential vehicles are parked off site for kids safety.
Tent site - Large (over 3m x 6m)

We have limited areas for large tents. Do not book if you have a caravan, trailer tent or campervan. As we are a small camp and you are a small group, you are charged this rate as we do not have space for huge 360 Katmandu style tents, unless you are a large group. ie - A ten person tent needs more than 4 people in it. There is The Glade, or The Meadow, (kid free) under the walnuts or main camp area. From private shady sites, to sunny sites near the trampoline- great to keep an eye on the kids. No power but power to charge is at outdoor kitchen area. Sunny or shady sites and on arrival choice the most suitable and available. Over busy times sites can be very snug. Large tents have few site options and we prefer reasonably sized tents. Same with additional gazebo's and shelter tents. Over our busy season and long weekends we prefer multi night bookings. All vehicles are parked off site for kids safety. We have limited sites for huge tents and gazebos etc over our busy season sorry. Tent size will determine site, so keep this in mind.
Large Van/ Caravan (over 7m)

We have limited areas for large vans and caravans. Do not book if you have a tent. As we are a small camp and if you are a small group, you are charged this rate as we do not have space for huge vans and caravans, unless you are a large group. ie - A ten metre caravan needs more than 4 people in it. There is the main camp area and lawn area only available. From private shady sites, to sunny sites near the trampoline- great to keep an eye on the kids. No power but power to charge is at outdoor kitchen area. Sunny or shady sites and on arrival choose the most suitable site available. Over busy times sites can be very snug. Large caravans and vans have few site options sorry. The same with additional gazebo's and shelter tents. Over our busy season and long weekends we prefer multi night bookings. All non essential vehicles are parked off site for kids safety. Van size will determine site, so keep this in mind.
Campervan or caravan no power Up to 7m

Sites for camper vans, sleeping cars/micro campers or caravans not needing power. We are a small campground so sites are limited and during busy times can be snug. Over busy times we prefer multi night bookings. If your caravan or van is large, or you plan to put up an awning, please let us know, as it determines the site choice and there is an extra fee over busy times. ie. If you are one person in a large van or caravan the fee is booked at two people, a minimum fee of $40.

A repurposed shipping container with queen bed and open plan dining area and kitchen. The container sits at the sunny top end of the campground and looks out over the camp area. The kitchen has a small oven, microwave, hobs, jug, toaster and fridge and small freezer. It has a totally private, grassed area behind the cabin with picnic table. Only ideal for adults only, no kids sorry. Over busy times there can be others camping close to the cabin.

Good as Gold Cabin

A cute rustic little cabin which sleeps up to 4. One bedroom with queen bed and bunks for the kids. It has a small lounge, with dining table and couch. Theres a very small kitchen with fridge, small stove top and oven. All utensils, pots, pans, plates included. All you need to bring is your bedding (sheets, duvet or sleeping bags), good food, drink and a book or two. Please note- no ensuite. Eco toilets and showers in campground area- 20m from cabin. Back to basics, so please dont expect too much. Room beside the cabin for a camper van or small tent. For one night bookings and more information please get in touch.
Kowhai cabin
Room Configuration: 3- Bedroom with Lounge and Kitchen
Max Guests: 8
A retro cabin which can sleep up to 8 in three small bedrooms. A classic small bach feel. One queen bed, two singles and 4 bunks in the three adjoining rooms. You will need to provide bedding (or hire some). The kitchen has all youll need, except the food and chef. A small dining room and tiny lounge either side of the kitchen. Please note- no ensuite. Eco toilets and showers in campground area- 20m from cabin. Room for small tents beside cabin. Over busy times we prefer multi night bookings. The Love Shack

A secluded rustic cabin for those wanting some privacy and peace. The cabin only has candle power, to add that romantic element. Back to basics, so please dont expect too much. Theres one queen bed, which youll need bedding for and a mezzanine floor which has a double bed so sleeping bags are ideal. No kitchen attached but you can use camp kitchen (100m from shack). Please note- no ensuite. Eco toilets and showers in campground area- 100m from cabin. Over busy times we prefer multi night bookings. For one night bookings and more information please get in touch. Note no power.
Day Visitors Koha/donation

For day visitors to the campground. As a private campground we do allow day visitors- either visiting friends and family, or to look around the campground. Ideal places for picnics. With a river and playground. For safety we need to account for people on the property. The fee helps us continue work on the native habitat. 11am-7pm.
